A kid’s point of view: Today’s my first day as a TEENAGER!

By Colleen, age 13 (as of today)

The first thing I did this morning was put on my new IU shirt to wear to school.

Growing up can be good or bad. Personally, I know that I should cherish childhood while I can. People can argue multiple ways about wanting to grow up or not. Too many people these days are always wanting to be older, to get somewhere faster, but it’s all in vain. People need to realize that it’s the little things in life that bring happiness. While I do want to have more responsibilities, I know to enjoy the small things only a child can appreciate. I know of the hardships that growing up brings, but I’m ready to face them head on. One can only hope that once most of my life is behind me, I’ll still smile at the little things that a child appreciates.

Happy Birthday Colleen. Keep that attitude, no matter what… It’ll slow things down later on for you, and ask your mom… That’s a good thing once we get older.

Happy Birthday. Your perspective on life is wise beyond your years.
