Have you ever heard of nature deficit disorder? This is what happens when a kid does not get enough time outside. It can cause a bunch of behavioral problems and it can make you fat, stressed out and less creative, too. It can even weaken your immune system, believe it or not!
Me and mom learned about this at a butterfly workshop on Tuesday at a nunnery (just kidding, it was at a convent but my brother kept calling it a nunnery). We learned about butterflies and caterpillars and we even got to bring a teeny tiny Monarch caterpillar home with us to raise. We named it Jordan. (We were trying to think of a unisex name because we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. Check back in two weeks, and then I should be able to tell you.)
Not to be cocky or anything but I don’t think that I am in danger of this because I have done 2 trail races in the last week or so, I am raising Jordan AND we are leaving tomorrow to go hiking in Tennessee. I can’t wait!

If you’re wondering why you can’t see my caterpillar it’s because he (or she) is only about a millimeter long. Still, Jordan is really growing. On Monday he/she was just a dinky egg on a milkweed leaf. We didn’t see him/her at all on Wednesday, but then on Thursday he/she came out of hiding and was TWICE AS BIG as he/she was before!
