A kid’s point of view: Can I really get slim, fast?

colleenThe other day when me and mom were running (which was my farthest run/walk of all time, four miles!!!!) we were discussing diet options when mom said, “What about Slim-fast?”

“What’s Slim-fast?” I said. Once she explained it, I thought it was a great idea to try for a week or so. I like the idea of not having so many choices to make and knowing that I can eat something every couple of hours. I started on Wednesday and yesterday I was already down a pound! And whatever I do eat is filling. I’m trying to make my main meal each day as tasty and healthy as possible. Like a big baked potato with broccoli and cheese sauce — yum!

So here’s the question: can I really get slim — fast?

I guess it doesn’t really matter how long it takes. We’ll see how this works over the next week or so. Let’s just hope I can keep going.

    The easy answer is no, you can’t get slim fast – you can, however, lose weight fast. It all depends on how much you want it and how hard you’re willing to work and how well you stick with your plan. Good luck, and keep up the good work! Getting fit takes a lot of work and effort but a four mile run at your age? You’re on the right path… Be thankful you have a great mom who is obviously so supportive. You’re a lucky girl.
