A kid’s point of view: Star goals vs. moon goals

By Colleen, age 10

One day me and mom were out running a 5K, and I was picking out places to start walking. Then mom said, “Have you ever heard the saying ‘Shoot for the stars, and you’ll at least land on the moon?’”

colleenIt means that if you shoot for the moon, you might come up short. But if you shoot for the stars, then even if you don’t make it you will still have achieved something good.

Sometimes I keep going farther than even my stars goal, but it’s nice to have one. Now we do that on our longer runs. It really helps me get thru them.
