A kid’s point of view: Eating insects

By Colleen, age 10

OK, here’s a possibility about ending world hunger that we might have to start on pretty soon: Eating bugs.

colleenBelieve it or not, that’s what the UN is suggesting in a report I read about in a kids’ newspaper we get at school, TFK (Time for Kids). It says raising livestock costs a lot compared to raising insects.

Many people around the world already do eat insects in places like Asia, but there are also food trucks that sell insect tacos around the U.S.

Personally I have mixed feelings. If it was disguised as something else, maybe some crunchy veggie bacon or something, I might eat it. If I just had to eat it with nothing on it, I probably wouldn’t.

What do you think?

  1. Bug tacos with guacamole kinda has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? 🙂
