A few weeks ago I told you about Talisha, a friend of Rowan’s who’d lost more than 60 pounds in her attempt to qualify for the Navy. When we last heard from her, she was waiting to see if she passed her physical — and if she qualified for training in nuclear propulsion.
Yes, and yes. Talisha reports for boot camp in December, followed by two years of specialized training in Charleston, S.C. That’s heady stuff for a girl who’s been commuting to college while working overtime at a nursing home.
