Traci was dubious about trying her husband’s ski suit, but she was won over when we were able to get in the pool without freezing to death.

Well, sort of. It turns out that Traci’s husband Gunnar and his brother have these insulated water ski suits. Not the kind of thing triathletes typically wear. They’re heavier and thicker, for one thing, and they zip in the back, which will probably add at least an extra minute to our transition time at Potato Creek.

But we’ve been concerned about how cold that swim might be another 10 days into September, so we thought we’d give them a try.

The lap swim ladies got a chuckle out of us suiting up, but we got the last laugh when we plunged into the notoriously chilly pool at Bluffton Middle School because we were the only ones whose teeth weren’t chattering.
It took a little while to get used to swimming in these. Arm movement was somewhat restricted, though given our crappy form it probably doesn’t make a huge difference. At any rate, we think they’ll work if we need them, and now we‘ve got one less thing to fret about.

It would be a little nippy that time of year… Good idea on obtaining a wetsuit… Plus they help you float more and improve swim times. My lake days for this year are over, I have to say, I truly enjoyed lake swims this summer. Cheers
